Total Base Number (TBN) is a critical property of Lubricant Oils, Assessing an oil's base number indicates whether it has an alkaline reserve or the capacity to neutralise corrosive and degradative acids. Total Base number is a crucial indicator for understanding oil drain intervals and shows whether the oil is suitable for continuous use. Viscosity, oxidation, and nitration typically rise as the base number decreases.
