Potable Water Testing

Ensuring health and safety of personnel

Potable Water Testing

Potable water as defined by the WHO Guidelines as drinking- water that does not represent any significant health risk over a lifetime of consumption. It is fresh water that is intended for human consumption and usage such as drinking, washing, brushing, cooking, etc.

Improper water management on ships and offshore could lead to serious health hazards like infectious disease outbreaks as potable water is usually derived from a single source for different applications, Contamination usually occurs due to mishandling during loading, contamination and poor hygiene of the potable water tanks, bad bunkered water, and backflow issues between potable and non-potable water. Testing of Potable Water is imperative as it ensures the health and safety of crew and personnel of international and offshore operations by detecting bacterial and other water-related risks.

The objective is to test the samples to ensure that the quality of the water is as per National and International specifications and is safe for personnel for drinking, washing, cooking, etc. Potable water testing also covers microbiological tests E.
