Atlas Lab offers comprehensive Soot testing and analysis for a variety of Lubricant products, including Diesel Engine Oils, Marine Engine Oils and Compressor and Turbine Oils. Our testing adheres to national and international standards such as ASTM etc.
We utilize state-of-the-art equipment, such as the Perkin Elmer Fourier Transform Infrared (FTIR). Atlas Lab employs multiple techniques to accurately measure Soot in accordance with specifications like ASTM E2412 or to meet your specific requirements.
Particles of Soot are created during the combustion process of diesel engines and are either absorbed by the engine's lubricant or released into the atmosphere. It has been demonstrated that Soot-contaminated lubricant causes a considerable amount of engine wear. Excessive Soot concentrations can raise the local acidity level, and corrosion may also happen around the piston where volatile gases and high temperatures coexist.
Please contact us if you have any questions or would like to learn more about our Soot testing services.
